Microsoft has posted record revenues of US$69.94 billion for the last fiscal year which is an increase of 12 percent. The company revenues also grew by eight percent for the last quarter that just ended on 30th June 2011 for which they made US$17.37billion, up from the US$16.04 billion they made over the same period in 2010.
itservices.com - The company's operating income was $6.17bn for the quarter, up 4% from the $5.93bn in the prior year's same quarter, while net income was $5.87bn, a 30% increase from $4.52bn in the same quarter previous fiscal.
Operating income, net income, and diluted earnings per share for the year were $27.16 billion, $23.15 billion, and $2.69, which represented increases of 13%, 23%, and 28%, respectively, when compared with the prior year.
Overall figures beat forecasts and the world's largest software provider made a profit of US$5.8 billion in the last quarter. Seeing the popularity of the Microsoft Xbox Kinect and the fact that Office is still as indispensable to computer user as ever, it is no surprise that the company has been performing above expectations. Other products such as Office 365 and cloud services were also launched and played a part in the success.
With Windows 8 in the pipelines, along with products rumored to help Microsoft enter the tablet market, the future looks bright for one of the stalwarts of the tech industry.
