Microsoft releases Cortana for Android as a public beta in the US

Why, yes, Cortana, I would like to watch The Martian.

After the invite-only beta, Microsoft is now making Cortana for Android available as a public beta.

With the app installed, Cortana can be customised to replace Google Now when you press the Android home button. Cortana on Android can help you set and get reminders, as well as search the web, track flight details, and set and complete tasks across devices. Unlike on Windows, Cortana can't be triggered hands-free by saying, "Hey Cortana."

The app is available only on the US Google Play Store for now, Microsoft says it's planning to roll the app out to other markets. Cortana is also slated to appear on iOS (sometime). Cortana on Windows 10 is currently only available in China, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, and United States, so it may be a while yet before Singapore gets Cortana.
