Microsoft to Release Kinect for Windows Version 1.5 in May
It seems Microsoft does not intend to lose any momentum when it comes to Kinect for Windows. Released in February, it will see an upgrade, version 1.5, at the end of May. Kinect for Windows offers Windows users a different interactive experience via the Kinect and is currently available in the U.S., Australia, Japan, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Spain and the U.K.
New capabilities include 10-joint skeletal tracking, which allows for tracking of the head, neck and arms of a standing or seated user. There's also the new Kinect Studio, an application aimed at developers, allowing them to record, play and debug clips of users interacting with their applications.
Kinect for Windows will be launched in more countries, with it being available in Hong Kong, South Korea, and Taiwan in late May, while Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Denmark, Finland, India, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates will see it in June.
