Microsoft to Launch Office for iPad on March 27?

According to The Verge, Satya Nadella, the new Microsoft CEO, is set to announce Office for iPad at a press event on March 27. If true, this Office Mobile for iPad comes nine months after the company launched Office Mobile for iPhone.

Like the iPhone version, the iPad-optimized version of Office is expected to let you access, view, and edit your Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents from anywhere, even those stored on SkyDrive, SkyDrive Pro, or SharePoint. Document formatting should also be maintained across mobile, web, and desktop Office. And for editing, a qualifying Office 365 subscription is required.

The introduction of Office for iPad falls in line with Nadella’s ‘mobile and cloud-first’ strategy. Just hours ago, the company introduced OneNote for Mac, a tool for capturing ideas, saving webpages and notes, things that you’ve scanned, and just about anything you can find or transfer online. Before this, OneNote is already available on the PC, Windows tablets, Windows Phone, iPad, iPhone, Android, and the Web. And just a month ago, Microsoft has replaced Office Web Apps with Office Online, allowing you to work on Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents online at Office.com.
