Microsoft Job Listing Hints at Windows Blue and Windows Blue Phone
A new jobs listing at Microsoft revealed more about Windows Blue and also hinted at a new Windows Blue Phone. According to the job listing, Microsoft is currently looking for a software development engineer to join the Core Experience team in Windows Sustained Engineering. Here's an excerpt of the listing:
"We’re looking for an excellent, experienced SDET to join the Core Experience team in Windows Sustained Engineering (WinSE). The Core Experience features are the centerpiece of the new Windows UI, representing most of what customers touch and see in the OS, including: the start screen; application lifecycle; windowing; and personalization. Windows Blue promises to build and improve upon these aspects of the OS, enhancing ease of use and the overall user experience on devices and PCs worldwide."
Blue is the codename for Microsoft's low-cost, yearly update schedule and this listing tells us that Blue will feature more than just under the hood updates, and will focus more on UI changes and how users interact with their computer. And according to rumors, Microsoft is planning on releasing the first Blue update in late summer this year.
Additionally, a second job posting for a development lead tells us that Blue will be extended to Windows Phone. In this listing it says:
"As development lead you will hire and manage a team of top-notch developers, be personally involved in designing and coding features, and work closely with PM and test counterparts across multiple orgs to help realize the vision of building high equality excel app for Windows Blue Phone."
Unfortunately, the job listings have since been removed. Perhaps Microsoft have already found the person for job.
