Microsoft Exec Claims Windows Phone Takes Second Place in China, Outsells iPhone
In the world's most populous country, it pays to be number one. In terms of smartphones, Android takes the top spot thanks to the myriad of devices it runs on. Second place however, is apparently not Apple's iPhone - it's Microsoft's Windows Phone 7. If Microsoft's Greater China COO Michel van der Bel is to be believed, handsets like the Nokia Lumia 800 have given the fledgling OS a 7% market share, or one precentage point above Apple's iPhone. Of course we still have to wait for the hard numbers from the actual manufacturers but so far the picture seems bright for Microsoft's mobile OS, at least in China.
