Microsoft Details Upcoming Office 365 Plans for Small and Medium-sized Businesses

Microsoft has announced that on October 1 this year, it’ll be releasing three new Office 365 plans for small and mid-sized businesses (those that have 1 to 250 employees). They are: Office 365 Business, Office 365 Business Essentials, and Office 365 Business Premium.

Meant to replace current SMB plans (Small Business, Small Business Premium, Midsize Business) over time, in summary, here are the benefits of the new plans:

  1. Office 365 Business starts at US$8.25/user/month. It will come with 1TB of cloud storage.

  2. Office 365 Business Premium will come with Midsize Business’ services at the Small Business Premium price of US$12.50/user/month.

  3. Office 365 Business Essentials will match Small Business on price (US$5/user/month), and comes with improved features and additional services like Yammer and Active Directory support. It also has a higher seat limit of 300.

For existing customers, some changes will also be made starting October 1 to allow them to enjoy the benefits of the new plans. For example, Small Business and Small Business Premium customers will see their seat cap increase from 25 to 300, while Midsize Business customers will see a price reduction from US$15/user/month to US$12.5/user/month when they renew their plan. For new Midsize Business customers, the new price will come into effect starting August 1, 2014.

Of course, if you’re an existing Office 365 business plan subscriber, you can don’t do anything, and let your plan run its course until the next renewal date. But take note that you’ll eventually have to move to one of the new plans starting October 1, 2015. More details can be found in the source link below.
