Windows 10 Creators Update to arrive on April 11 via Windows Update, manual download on April 5

Update, April 12, 1AM: Microsoft has officially released Windows 10 version 1703, aka the Creators Update. If you've a Windows 10 PC with automatic updates enabled, the update will be delivered to you when it’s ready. There's also a Cumulative Update that brings the build number up to 15063.138.

Update, April 6, 9AM: Windows 10 Creators Update, version 1703, is now available for manual download via the Windows 10 Update Assistant. After upgrading (all Windows 10 Home or Pro installs are eligible), you'll be on build 15063; but come April 11, expect a small Cumulative Update to arrive on Windows Update that fixes some last-minute bugs, and which would then bring the final build number to 15063.xx.

Update, March 31, 9AM: Microsoft has confirmed that you can manually download the Windows 10 Creators Update through the Update Assistant tool on April 5.

Update, March 29, 9PM: Microsoft has confirmed that the Windows 10 Creators Update will arrive on April 11 via Windows Update.

Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of the Windows and Devices Group:

Today, I’m excited to share our latest update to Windows 10, the Creators Update, will begin to roll out on April 11. The Creators Update is designed to spark and unleash creativity, bringing 3D and mixed reality to everyone and enabling every gamer to be a broadcaster. Beyond creativity, it brings new features to Microsoft Edge, additional security capabilities and privacy tools, and so much more.

And surprise, surprise, Microsoft has today shipped the Creators Update for the Xbox One. It has begun, folks.

When Windows 10 build 15063 was made available for PC testers in the Slow ring last week as well as those on the Xbox Insider Program, there were murmurs that this is the “RTM” (released to manufacturing) build of the Creators Update. And it seems like such suspicions are right, as earlier today, Microsoft has uploaded ISOs of this build to its own servers (64-bit ISO here; 32-bit ISO here).

Heck, if that isn’t enough proof, according to MSPoweruser, it’s now possible to update to build 15063 via the new Windows 10 Update Assistant tool as well. For those unaware, Update Assistant is a piece of software that helps you upgrade your existing version of Windows 10 to the latest version. There was one for the Anniversary Update, and it’s now been updated to accommodate the Creators Update. Additionally, further digging by Victor Denancy seems to confirm that the official rollout will begin on April 11. (Editor's note: That's Patch Tuesday, how convenient.)

Of course, Microsoft has yet to officially announce anything, so all these may still change. But if I were a betting man, I’d say that build 15063 is indeed the RTM build, and come general availability, it’d be accompanied by a series of other patches (or a single cumulative update), to bring the final build number to something like 15063.xx.

Windows 10 Creators Update is expected to arrive for PCs first, before going to mobile and other devices. Also, due to the sheer number of PCs running Windows 10, you can expect a gradual rollout, which means not everyone will get it on day one.
