MH370, World Cup and iPhone 6 top Singapore's Google searches for 2014
Google has released its annual year-end search report, showing Singapore's most frequently searched for queries over the course of the year.
The list was topped with tragedy, as the mysterious disappearance of Malaysian Airlines flight MH370 topped all search trends, with searches for "MH370" five times higher than the top trending local news search, “PSI Singapore”. Searches for Malaysian Airlines flight MH17 also came in at number four.
The World Cup was the most searched for term on mobile, and also came in at number two overall. Meanwhile, Apple's iPhone 6 was the highest ranked gadget search and was also third overall, although Apple should be wary of Xiaomi, who snuck onto the trending list at number nine. Singaporeans also searched for the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4.
Rounding out the top ten was Anton Casey, the disgraced British banker who complained about "the stench of public transport" on Facebook and was forced to flee the country.
To the surprise of no-one, the most searched for song of the year was "Let It Go" from Disney's Frozen.
