Microsoft unveiled Windows 10 last year and most recently stated that its latest operating system will be launched this summer. It will also be a free upgrade for all devices running Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8.1, and even Windows 7 for the first year.

And just today, Microsoft has disclosed that they will be seven different editions of Windows 10. And here they are:

  • Windows 10 Home
  • Windows 10 Mobile
  • Windows 10 Pro
  • Windows 10 Enterprise
  • Windows 10 Education
  • Windows 10 Mobile Enterprise
  • Windows 10 IoT Core

Home, Mobile and Pro are the most relevant for consumers and are also the ones that will be offered as free upgrades.

Windows 10 Home is the consumer-focused desktop edition, whereas Windows 10 Mobile was designed for touch devices. Finally Windows 10 Pro has enhanced security features and is targeted at SMEs, SOHO and prosumers.

The final four are really for enterprise and education use and Windows 10 IoT Core is an all new edition designed for low-cost, small IoT devices like the Raspberry Pi 2.

Microsoft has yet to fix a date for the release of Windows 10. And you can find out more about the various editions in the link below.
