This May Well be the Chip Used in the Samsung Galaxy Note 4
Samsung has just announced its newest Exynos processors, which we think are likely to be featured in the upcoming Galaxy Note 4, and who knows, maybe the rumored-to-death Galaxy F too. The press release is a tad heavy in technical details, but here goes.
First and foremost, there’s the Exynos ModAP, which is a quad-core processor manufactured on a 28nm HKMG process. It’s also Samsung’s first integrated LTE Modem-AP solution with advanced 4G LTE connectivity (e.g., LTE Release 9 of 3GPP and Cat 4, at both FDD and TDD duplex modes). There’s also advanced image signal processing (up to 8-megapixel at 30fps) for better recording and playback of high-res videos and handling of graphic-intensive apps. (Now, while there are already phones that can do 4K video recording, their processors usually can’t handle the playback; the new Exynos chip is expected to solve this issue.)
Then there’s the Exynos RF companion chip, which is an optimized connectivity chip that enhances the way devices handle various modes of connectivity. In short, it allows for a faster transfer rate, and a more stable LTE connection.
So, what do you think? Would you go for an Exynos-based Galaxy Note 4, or insist on one equipped with a Snapdragon processor?
