2014 is shaping up to be a big year for Apple as its legion of fans await the release of a new iPhone that is rumored to sport an all new form factor and design. Apart from the new iPhone, fans are also very excited about the rumored iWatch, Apple's first foray into the wearable technology and smart watch market.

Unfortunately for fans, a well-connected analyst from KGI, Ming-Chi Kuo, has predicted that because of the various challenges that Apple is currently facing with manufacturing and designing a smart watch - something that it has never done before - mass production would only begin as late as November. This means that supplies could be extremely scarce at launch, especially if Apple decides to stick to timeline of launching just before the year end holiday season.

Earlier estimates suggest that Apple would begin mass production in late September ahead of an October release, thereby shipping 10 million units by the end of this year. However, Kuo believes that the iWatch will be delayed and that 3 million units shipped before the end of this year is a more plausible figure. If this is really true, don't count on receiving an iWatch as a gift this Christmas.
