Like its iPhones, Apple is still experiencing growth for its Macs although the pace is said to be the slowest in two years.
According to research firm IDC, Apple sold an estimated 5.3 million Macs in Q3 2015 which represents a year-on-year decrease of 3.4%. On the other hand, research firm Gartner forecasted sales of 5.6 million which is a 1.5% increase.
Nonetheless, both research firms agreed that Apple is still outperforming the PC industry which fell by more than 7% (7.7% from Gartner's estimates, 10.8% from IDC's estimates). Apple is said to have increased its market share to either 7.5% or 7.6%.
The strong U.S dollar, and weak markets in Japan and Europe are cited as reasons for the decline in sales for the Macs. A new 21.5-inch iMac with 4K display is expected to be unveiled towards the end of the month, which could boost sales in the holiday season.
