M1 Launches MiBox Internet TV Service

M1 has announced the launch of MiBox, a new Internet TV service that offers video-on-demand entertainment and educational titles, games, e-books and apps at an affordable price.

Priced at just S$8 a month with a 2-year contract for M1 fibre customers, M1’s MiBox service comes bundled with an Android set-top box and a selection of free dramas, variety shows and other content. The service is also available to non-M1 fibre customers at S$12 a month. As a launch promotion, the first 10,000 customers to sign up for MiBox will enjoy subscription fee waivers of 12 months for M1 fibre customers and 6 months for non-M1 fibre customers.

To access MiBox’s library of 18,000 video-on-demand titles, 116 TV channels, 1,200 e-books and 370 apps, customers just need to plug in the user-friendly set-top box, which comes with a parental control feature, to their television set via a HDMI cable.

Customers can sign up for the MiBox service at all M1 Shops, M1 Exclusive Dealer Shops and online from 27 July.

In addition to the bundled content, there is also an extensive selection of chargeable premium video-on-demand, e-learning titles and apps. Enjoy hit TV shows, movies and music videos from Viki, music concerts featuring Justin Bieber and Katy Perry, and watch Korean variety shows and news content on-demand from Channel NewsAsia and AsiaOne. MiBox also offers 46 Chinese TV channels from KyLinTV, including the popular CCTV4 Asia, Dragon TV HD, ZTV International HD and Hunan TV HD channels.

Interact with MiBox’s wide selection of pre-school to secondary e-learning materials based on the Singapore school syllabus from publishers such as MC Online and Educare, and catch interesting documentaries including Corey’s Wild World and celebrity chef Tommy Sugiarto’s Spice Islands cooking series.

For just S$5 a month, MiBox delivers 300 premium Android games like Mega City, Fruit Ninja and Cake Mania Celebrity Chef. The MiBox service also enables access to popular Internet streaming sites, social networks and online shopping destinations such as Qoo10.
