LG's Smart Bulb is Able to Connect to Android and iOS Devices
LG has just announced a pair of ‘smart’ LED light bulbs, the color B1030EA5L6B and day white B1050EA5L6B, to compete with the likes of the Philips Hue. Besides being able to last for more than 10 years (if you use it for five hours a day), the 10W LG ‘Smart Bulb’ supports Bluetooth wireless connectivity, and is able to connect to Android, iOS, and Bluetooth Smart-ready devices for more advanced lighting control. A Wi-Fi connection is also needed, but this can be done with a direct connection, so a wireless router isn't needed.
For example, you can adjust the light bulb’s brightness, have it flash when you receive a phone call, configure it to turn on when you aren’t at home (to fool robbers), use it as a light-based alarm clock, and even have it pulsate along with your music (Android only, though). The LG Smart Bulb also uses a traditional light bulb socket for ease of replacement.
Available in Korea, the LG Smart Bulb costs 35,000 Won (about S$41). We're currently checking with LG to find out when it will come to Singapore.
