Previously leaked in a promotional video for the 5-inch G3 Beat, LG officially announced the 5.5-inch G3 Stylus.

Positioned as "a fairly-priced package", the G3 Stylus is certainly not the Samsung Galaxy Note 4's killer that many had hoped. In fact, the G3 Stylus is a midrange phablet that will compete against the likes of the ASUS ZenFone 6, HTC Desire 816, Huawei Honor 3X, Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, Sony Xperia T2 Ultra and Xiaomi Redmi Note.

Having said that, do not expect the G3 Stylus to blow you away with its specs. Its 5.5-inch IPS display has a low resolution of 960 x 540 pixel, which pales in comparison with the 720p displays that its competitors are touting. It is powered by a quad-core 1.3GHz processor, 1GB RAM, Android 4.4.2 KitKat and comes with some UX features seen on the G3

Other specs include an internal storage of 8GB, a microSD memory card slot, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera and a removable 3,000mAh battery. It stylus, known as the RubberdiumTM stylus pen, is used to jot, doodle and sketch on the 5.5-inch display.

LG states that the G3 Stylus will be rolled out in 3G markets next month starting in Brazil, followed by countries in Asia, Middle East, Africa and CIS. Pricing and local availability will vary across markets. It will make its official debut at IFA 2014 next week.
