LG CES 2016 rollable OLED

The annual Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas is when manufacturers seize the opportunity to show off the newest and coolest products that they’ve got cooking in their labs. For LG, this includes a range of display panels of the bendable, rollable, and curved variety, one of which is reportedly a prototype 18-inch screen that can be rolled up like a newspaper.

This isn’t the first that we’ve heard of such displays from LG (or Samsung, Sony, and Sharp for that matter), and the company actually showed similar technology last year as a proof of concept. Now, it looks like LG is ready to show these futuristic displays to the world at CES 2016.

In addition, LG is also planning to highlight a paper-thin 55-inch OLED TV display and a second 55-inch display that can display two separate images on both sides, which would make the latter panel ideal for store signage or advertisements at bus stops.

Furthermore, it is making deeper inroads into automotive displays with a 25-inch curved LCD for vehicle interiors, as well as a 10.3-inch LCD screen that works with gloves.

According to LG’s vision of the future, we may eventually be able to have displays that wrap around interior spaces and defy traditional design rules. On that note, how do rollable displays that you can pocket sound?
