LG sets 10 million sales target for upcoming G4 smartphone

The G3 smartphone has garnered sales of between 6 to 7 million units since its launch in May 2014.

The G4 flagship smartphone is expected to be launched next month and LG already set high expectations for it.

According to The Korea Times, an LG official told the publication during Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2015 that the company aims to hit global sales of 10 million units for the G4 this year. In comparison, the G3 sold between 6 to 7 million units since its launch in May 2014.

LG has good reasons to believe the aim is attainable; initial responses from top outlet channels and European telcos was apparently "good enough". LG is also said to be planning a heavy promotional campaign in Europe, Korea and the U.S.

While HTC and Samsung dominated the headlines at MWC 2015, LG reportedly wanted "some in-between time to make a bigger splash" for the G4.
