LG just announced a new mobile user interface, UX 4.0 for the G4 and touts it as more human-centric. It defines UX 4.0 as being a "simpler, more intuitive and smarter interface" that understands the users better. There are three main new features of UX 4.0 which are:

Simpler and more user intuitive

LG claims the UX 4.0 is smoother and cleaner as it eliminates several redundant configuration steps. For example, users can take pictures quickly by double-tapping the rear key even when the display is off. We hate to say this, but this sounds very similar to the Quick Launch on the Samsung Galaxy S6 models.

Wider range of specialized choices

The UX 4.0 revolves around giving users a more personalized experience. LG achieves this by giving users a wider range of options based on their preferences. LG has revealed that the new camera interface offers three modes - Simple, Basic and Manual - to cater to the various needs of shutterbugs. In addition, the improved calendar allows users to drag and drop events from social media accounts.

Smarter UX that understands the users

By monitoring the user's daily activities and schedule, UX 4.0 can provide more personalized information for weather and travel. The Gallery app is also enhanced; event-specific albums can be created based on the location and time photos are taken. Every individual in the favorite contact list can also be assigned a unique ringtone for easier identification whenever a phone call comes in.

Aside from the new UX 4.0, LG also teased the imaging capabilities of the G4 in its video. In the 42-second long video, LG explicitly states that the G4 will sport a rear camera with an aperture of f/1.8. It also shows some night scenes which become brighter and clearer, thanks to the faster lens.

Last week, LG announced that it will be using its latest 5.5-inch Quad-HD display with higher color gamut and better contrast on the G4. At the rate that LG is releasing official announcements of new features on the upcoming G4, we wonder if there would be any more surprises left for April 28.
