The relationship between size and power is quickly being upended, and it’s not just laptops that are getting thinner and more portable. Lenovo has announced the ThinkStation P320 Tiny, which true to its name is a diminutive workstation PC that weighs only as much as the MacBook Air.

Its specifications are no pushover either:

  • Intel Core i7-7700T (2.9GHz, 8MB L3 cache)
  • Up to 32GB of DDR4-2400 RAM
  • NVIDIA Quadro P600
  • Two M.2 sockets with support for up to 2TB of storage
  • 35.6 x 180.3 x 182.88mm
  • 1.3kg
  • Windows 10 Pro (64-bit)

The Quadro GPU isn’t much of a gaming beast, but what you do get is better compatibility with certain 3D and CAD programs, in addition to much better performance than you’d normally expect from a PC this small.

And in case there was ever any doubt that this is a workstation machine, the ThinkStation P320 Tiny actually supports up to six displays, courtesy of the four Mini DisplayPort and two DisplayPort outputs.

There are a good number of ports available as well, including five USB 3.1 (Gen 1) ports and a Gigabit Ethernet jack.

However, as with many small form factor PCs, the power supply is located outside of the chassis, so you’ll have to make allowances for that on your desk.

The ThinkStation P320 Tiny starts at US$799, although maxing out the specifications will probably cost you a lot more.
