Lego has enjoyed something of a resurgence of late and to keep up the momentum, the Danish company has just introduced Fusion, a game kit that lets players build virtual towns using real Lego bricks.

There are four main game types - Lego Fusion Town, Lego Fusion Battle Towers, Lego Fusion Create & Race and Lego Fusion Resort Designer - and each Fusion box features around 200 Lego bricks, special Fusion capture bricks and an accompany app for iOS and Android devices.

The idea is for players to build a 16 x 16 bricks facades on the special capture bricks and then use the accompanying app to capture this facade. This is then imported into the game world. Depending on which Fusion kit you get, the game objective will be different.

For instance, Lego Fusion Town requires players to build and manage a town and its inhabitants. In Lego Fusion Battle Towers, each facade players build is turned into defense towers, which can be used to defend against attacks - not unlike typical tower defense games.

Lego Fusion kits are expected to ship later in August and September and will cost around US$35.
