Leaked: AMD Radeon R9 390X graphics card in the works

A leaked picture of what appears to be an Asetek-designed GPU cooler hints at a new AMD graphics card. According to Videocardz, this hybrid liquid cooling system is meant for the upcoming AMD Radeon R9 390X card. Asetek built the cooling system for the AMD Radeon R9 295X2 graphics card, and recently, the company announced its deal with an “undisclosed OEM partner” to supply a “graphics liquid cooling product.” This product is expected to ship in 2015.

In the past, we had witnessed the high operating temperature of the AMD Radeon R9 290X; hence, this underscores the importance of a custom cooling system like the recently reviewed HIS IceQ R9 290X Hybrid graphics card. According to Videocardz, the upcoming AMD Radeon R9 390X graphics card will feature the new Fiji GPU; and it hopes that the need for this hybrid cooling system doesn’t portend the chip's high operating temperature. However, many months remain until we find out the truth behind this, so stay tuned for more updates.
