Launch of Sony Xperia Z2 in Singapore Pushed to First Week of April

The Sony Xperia Z2 was originally slated for a release on March 29.

Sony Mobile Singapore just confirmed in a statement to HardwareZone that the availability of the Xperia Z2 will be pushed to the first week of April.

The Xperia Z2 was originally slated for a release in Singapore on March 29, but rumors soon surfaced of a worldwide delay caused by a Sony supplier. As a result, only limited quantities are available for the global roll-out. We've reached out to Sony Mobile Singapore and here's their response:

Sony Mobile Singapore - We're seeing particularly strong demand for Xperia Z2 across all of our distribution channels. As with all of our product launches, global rollout is phased across markets and channels. Consumers will be able to get Xperia Z2 in Singapore starting from the first week of April.

Whether it is overwhelming demand or supplier issues to be blamed, this is not a good start for Sony as Samsung is expected to launch the Galaxy S5 in Singapore on April 11. HTC will be launching the successor to the One on March 25 and there are reports that the new smartphone will hit retail shelves very soon.
