Kindle Sales Reportedly Higher than Estimates

Amazon's Kindle has been touted by the retailer as its top bestselling product for the last two years. The exact figure sold however has been a mystery as Amazon has refused to reveal sales numbers due to competitive reasons. However, a recent story has quoted unnamed sources that sales have been higher than analysts' predictions, with more than 8 million Kindles sold.

Bloomberg - Amazon.com Inc. is likely to sell more than 8 million Kindle electronic-book readers this year, at least 60 percent more than analysts have predicted, according to two people who are aware of the company’s sales projections.

If that figure is true, it would seem that the Kindle is neck to neck with the iPad in terms of units sold. Those predicting the demise of a dedicated ebook reader like the Kindle after the introduction of the iPad, may have to eat their words. Click here for the full story.
