Kabini Boards Spotted at Computex 2013

AMD showcased some products based on the new Kabini APU and we managed to spot some Kabini motherboards on the show floor of Computex 2013. Due to the system on chip (SoC) nature of the processor, the Kabini system will provide an all-in-one user experience. As a result, these boards would be most likely targeted at the low-powered PCs and mini-PCs.

The ASRock KA5200-ITX board will ship with a quad-core A6-5200 'Kabini' 2.0GHz chip that has a Radeon HD 8400 graphics core. The board also supports DDR3-1600 memory of up to a maximum capacity of 32GB.

The other was from ECS, the KBN-I board, like its ASRock counterpart, features the A6-5200 chipset. It will also ship with the same quad-core A6-5200 'Kabini' 2.0GHz chip; however, the board only supports DDR3-1600 memory of up to a maximum capacity of 16GB.

The Kabini is an APU meant mostly for entry-level, mainstream low-power PCs, notebooks and HTPC applications. At launch, AMD will offer five SKUs to do battle with Intel’s low-end Core i3, Pentium and Celeron offerings. For more information on the Kabini chip, do read our preview here.
