iPhone X sold out on first day of pre-order in South Korea
Despite being in LG and Samsung's home market, the iPhone X managed to garner overwhelming demand on the first day of pre-order.
According to Yonhap News Agency, the first pre-order batch of iPhone X units sold out within minutes in South Korea. SK Telecom, which is the biggest telco in the country, said that it took three minutes for the stock to run out. In comparison, the launch of the iPhone 7 took 20 minutes. The telco also noted that the silver model sold out in about a minute. KT Corp, another telco in the country, stated that its first batch of 20,000 units were sold out in five minutes.
Industry analysts estimate that there were about 150,000 pre-orders for the iPhone X, which is less than the 200,000 pre-orders for the iPhone 8 for the same duration (first day response). SK Telecom and KT Corp mentioned that their initial inventories were too low to meet demand.
The iPhone X will arrive in 13 additional countries across Europe, Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Macau on 24 November. The first wave of iPhone X launched in 55 countries including Singapore on 3 November.
