iOS App Store has less downloads, but more revenue than Google Play Store

App analytics firm App Annie released a report on the app ecosystems in 2015 and you may find several findings quite interesting.

The report reveals that Google Play Store saw a lead of nearly 100% over iOS App Store in worldwide downloads. In fact, App Annie claims there are twice as many app downloads on the Play Store compared to the App Store.

However, quantity doesn't always mean quality. Apple earns 75% more revenue than Google from the app downloads. It is also important to note that the App Store registered "incredible gains in China, the U.S and Japan" with downloads increasing 20% from Q4 2014 to Q4 2015.

Apple announced two weeks ago that customers spent over US$1.1 billion in the App Store during the holiday season. In addition, the first day of 2016 saw customers spent a whopping US$144 million.
