Building on the gains made with its previous generation of Xeon processors, the new Xeon E7 v3 series looks set to make further inroads for  real-time data analytics and mission-critical computing market segments. For a start, the new Xeon E7 v3 CPUs have increased their CPU cores to a maximum of 18, coupled with up to 45MB of Last Level Cache (LLC). The previous generation v2 chips had up to a maximum of 15 CPU cores. According to Intel, the new processors’ performance has been improved by up to 40%, in comparison with the previous generation v2 chips.

There are a total of 12 new processors, with eight from the Intel Xeon 8800 v3 series, and the remaining four are from the Intel Xeon 4800 v3 series. Prices of the chips start from US$1,224 to US$7,175 in quantities of 1,000. The exact pricing details can be found here.
