Intel engineered New Balance RunIQ smartwatch unveiled at CES 2017

One year after a joint announcement that they were working on the RunIQ smartwatch, Intel and New Balance officially unveiled the finished product at Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2017.

The Intel-powered RunIQ smartwatch uses an Intel Atom Z34xx processor and runs on Android Wear platform (probably the latest version). Other notable specs are as follows:-

1.39-inch AMOLED display
4GB internal storage space
512MB of memory to complement the Atom processor
Optical heart rate monitoring (OHRM)
Gyroscope
Accelerometer
GPS
24 hours our battery life (in typical use) OR up to 5 hours of continuous use with GPS and HRM
Waterproof rated up to 5ATM
Mechanical buttons that allow your laps to be tracked from start to finish, interval capability and more

The fitness smartwatch syncs with Strava to track workouts and interact with the global community of runners - without a smartphone at hand. You also can sync, store and listen to Google Play Music playlists via Bluetooth. New Balance also partnered with Jabra on the Pace IQ, which is a pair of Bluetooth headphones with a dedicated button for real-time audio coaching.

The vision and reason for this product collaboration is to showcase how Intel is reinventing the boundaries of computing and evolve the way people get fit, monitor activity and train up to improve their stamina through partnerships with industry leaders and experts, such as New Balance in this case.

Available for pre-order today, the RunIQ smartwatch is priced at US$299.99 (~S$430) and comes only in black. Shipment of pre-orders will begin on 1st February.
