If you are using the 16GB Apple iPhone 6s, download this app to take more photos

With new camera features such as Live Photos, 4K video recording and 12-megapixel still shots, 16GB iPhone 6s users may struggle to find sufficient storage space for their photo snapping needs. Fret not as there is a an app that frees up storage space and it doesn't cost a dime!

Known as IceCream, it is positioned as "the clever camera and photo app that helps you free up space in a few taps". First, IceCream will tell you how many more photos the iPhone can take with the available storage space. It will also send you a notification when you are approaching the storage capacity limit.

Second, you can use IceCream to free up more space if required, without having to "delete" other photos and videos. This is achieved by keeping "beautifully optimized photos" which takes up 90% less space on your phone and uploading the originals (high resolution) to its secure IceCream cloud. You can decide how much storage space to free up - 50MB (250 photos), 200MB (1,000 photos) and 500MB (2,500 photos). The ability to free up 1GB (5,000 photos) is coming soon though.

According to the developer, the IceCream cloud uses the world's best storage and security technology built on Amazon's Web Services. There is also a two-factor authentication feature that sends you a text message with a secure code before you download the photos from its cloud service.

Last, but not least, IceCream claims its own Space-Saving camera is able to take 10x more photos than the default Camera app on your iPhone, and will automatically save the high resolution images in the cloud. IceCream is compatible with iPhone running iOS 8 and above.
