Huawei's MediaPad M2 10.0 tablet has four Harman Kardon surround sound speakers

Huawei didn't just launch a new phablet today, it also has a new high-end 10-inch tablet The MediaPad M2 10.0 features an aluminum alloy full-metal body in either gold or silver, with a sandblasted finish.

The M2 isn't quite as thin as the iPad Air 2, measuring 7.4mm thick (the Air 2 is 6.1mm) but it still looks and feels premium. It also has a slightly larger display than the iPad Air 2. Despite being called the MediaPad M2 10.0, the device actually has a 10.1-inch display, with a Full HD 1,920 x 1,080 pixels resolution (224ppi).

The device is powered by Huawei's own Kirin 930 octa-core processor, with either 2GB or 3GB RAM and 16GB or 64GB storage. If Huawei Singapore follows the same pattern as the Mate 8, the local version will be the premium edition with more RAM and storage. Both versions also have a microSD card slot that accepts cards up to 128GB. Inside the M2 is a huge 6,660mAh battery.

The M2 is built as a media-watching device (as all 10-inch tablets should be) and boasts four speakers, two each on the top and bottom edge (when holding the device in landscape orientation), each of which feature an Intelligent Power Amplifier, Clari-fi Audio Restoration, and SWS 2.0 Surround Sound. If that's not enough, the audio components in the M2 have been tuned by Harman Kardon.

The MediaPad M2 will also be perfect for artists and anyone who likes to take notes in their own handwriting, because it's compatible with a proprietary stylus that will be sold separately called the M-Pen. The Huawei-made stylus features a pressure sensitivity level of 2048, as well as a built-in fingerprint sensor that will also ensure your data is kept safe from intruders. Huawei says that the stylus is on par with those made by Wacom.

Tablets cameras tend to be pretty awful, but surprisingly, Huawei has packed a 13-megapixel rear camera onto the back of the M2. The front-facing camera looks decent too, and its 5-megapixels should be more than adequate for video chats.

Local pricing and availability for the MediaPad M2 10.0 has not been announced yet.
