Huawei shipped 100 million phones in the first three quarters of 2017

Besides overtaking Apple in the global smartphone sales, Huawei has shipped more phones this year than it ever did in the past few years.

According to China Daily, Huawei managed to ship more than 100 million smartphones in the first three quarters of this year. This represents a 19% growth year on year and increased the company’s operating revenue by more than 30%.

The record shipment is attributed to Huawei’s aggressive expansion of its global retail presence. There are currently more than 42,300 Huawei’s retail outlets worldwide. Moving forward, Huawei plans to release more medium and high-end products to enhance its brand image and target more customers. Richard Yu, chief of Huawei's consumer division, previously shared in an interview with Bloomberg that the company is giving up on the very low-end device segment.
