Many consumers should be familiar with the Huawei brand, but do you know that the Chinese company has a young, trend-setting phone brand under its wings? The phone brand is Honor, and was established in 2013. Honor recently unveiled its latest smartphone, the Honor 7X in Malaysia and confirmed its expansion into the Southeast Asian smartphone market. The brand is well entrenched in Malaysia, but it will soon be an official option even in Singapore.

The Honor 7X sports a 5.93-inch edge-to-edge FullView Display (2,160 x 1,080 pixels), a Kirin 659 octa-core 2.36GHz processor, 4GB RAM, EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat, and a 3,340mAh battery. Other specs include a metallic chassis, dual-lens camera on the rear (16MP + 2MP) that supports Portrait Mode, an 8MP front-facing camera and one-key screen split function for multitasking. It will be available for purchase in Malaysia for RM1,099 (~S$364) from 22 December.

To accelerate its expansion in the region, Honor is also working with key industry players such as DJI, IGG, Grab and Mobile Legends. The aim of these strategic partnerships is to foster closer engagement with the young generation.

"Honor is committed to setting up close engagement with our audience - the young generation and the ones who are young at heart, in their language and at their preferences, not just invest heavily in advertising or costly sponsorships," added George Zhao, "all the partnerships we initiated are designed to fit into young people's lifestyle, so as to offer them the best product and brand experience. We are determined to bring the best of Honor's brand DNA to Southeast Asian markets soon."
