HTC Planning to Release a Second Generation Butterfly
HTC is pulling out all stops to get back into the game as it plans to unveil the second generation Butterfly smartphone.
According to Focus Taiwan, Chief Marketing Officer Ben Ho said that the company "will launch a successor to the device under the same Butterfly brand name" although he did not reveal the availability of the device. The strong interest and demand for the HTC Butterfly apparently encouraged the Taiwanese phone maker to focus on the large-screen phone segment.
Focus Taiwan - "We have no plans for the time being to change the name of the series," Ho told a media briefing.
The device, known as J Butterfly, was initially launched in Japan last October. HTC subsequently released another variant in the U.S, which is called the Droid DNA. The international model, the Butterfly, was launched in mid December for the global market.
We reviewed the HTC Butterfly in January and liked its stunning 5-inch Super LCD 3 display, solid build quality and new design. One major gripe with the device lies in its lack of support for 4G LTE, which we hope will be addressed in the next Butterfly.
