HTC Issues Software Update for One (M8), Brings Extreme Power Saving Mode

The HTC One (M8) was launched in Singapore on April 5.

HTC just announced a software update (version 1.54.707.7) recommended for all One (M8) users.

According to HTC, the software update will bring new features and enhancements such as Extreme Power Saving Mode, additional features added to Duo Camera including Copy and Paste, Foregrounder and more.

As a quick recap of the Extreme Power Saving mode, it can give you up to two weeks of standby time with manual access to calls, emails, text and other basic functions. HTC claims that the One (M8) can have up to 30 hours of standby time when the feature is enabled at 10% battery level.

The overall system performance and stability of network connectivity are also improved. More importantly, we were told that it will also resolve the SIM card issues reported by some One (M8) users a week ago.

To update the software, go to Settings > About > Software Updates. You will be prompted to download the latest software version. Users are encouraged to update their devices via Wi-Fi, as the file size of the software update is at least 100MB.

If you are updating from software version 1.12.707.18, the file size is about 163.57MB. One (M8) devices updating from software version 1.54.707.5 will have a slightly smaller file size of 100.83MB.
