HP to Standardize Notebook and Tablet Design and Features

According to a report by PC World, HP will be standardizing the design and features of all of its notebooks and tablets to cut manufacturing costs and help customers better identify its products.

Chad Paris, Creative lead of notebook product design at HP's global business unit, said "HP had silos for products, with each family having different philosophies, colors and designs, which created inconsistencies across consumer and enterprise product lines." As a result, HP will now be standardizing all materials, colors, designs and features.

The first order of business will be to standardize the company logo to a single round HP logo. "In the past you may have seen 20 different logo sizes across our products in different colors. Our logos will be much more consistent in terms of size. You want that consistency to build brand equity and recognition,” Paris said.

What this means for HP's various sub-brands like the Envy range, which is known for its more premium look and feel, or even one-off designs like the black glass, Envy 14 Spectre is unknown at this time, however we may have seen the last of them from HP.

Is this the end of one-off designs like the HP Envy 14 Spectre?
