HGST Debuts Touro S Mobile External Hard Drives at the IT Show

In a slim, aluminum enclosure, the 7,200rpm hard drive-based external drives moves files up to 23% faster than standard 5,400rpm-based drives, and delivers two levels of data protection - local backup and cloud storage, to help safeguard, transport, store and access photos, music, videos, and documents from anywhere.

Besides 1TB of local storage, every Touro S customer will be entitled to 3G of Touro Cloud Backup for free. With this online storage option, users can access and share files from any web browser, tablet, or smartphone. When using the cloud service, all content is stored in its natural format, so you can view, download, and share files from any web browser easily. You can even share online content with others by sending a web link.

With just a few clicks, the Touro S local backup software quickly and automatically backs up your files from a computer directly to the drive. Once installed, backups run every half an hour. In addition, flexible settings will let you schedule custom backups on a time or day that's convenient for you.

Backed by a three-year limited warranty, the HGST Touro S mobile external hard drives are Mac and PC compatible, and are available in metallic finishes including Gold, Silver, Ruby, and Platinum. The 1TB and 500GB variants are priced at S$129 and $109.90, individually.

For more cloud storage, users can upgrade to 250GB for only US$59 yearly, which includes multiple computer protection. Those who upgrade will get Apple iPhone/iPad apps for free.
