Here's what's inside the Apple AirPods
After numerous delays, Apple's AirPods are finally here! And of course the iFixit team has taken them apart, which means we finally get to find out what's the point of that dangling stem.
The tiny wireless earphones are packed with components (and lots of glue). Inside the stem is a 93mWh battery. Despite taking up so much space inside the AirPod, that's still only 1 percent of the charge capacity of an iPhone 7 battery. The antenna is also located here - the long length of the antenna helps to maintain a strong connection between the AirPods and your phone.
Delving deeper, you need a microscope to see the brain of the AirPods, Apple's miniscule W1 chip.
Unsurprisingly, the AirPods receive a 0/10 score on iFixit's repairability rating.
