Goru is StarHub’s new travel app for Asia

StarHub seems to be targeting travelers these days. Just last week, it announced that it will start offering its mobile pre-paid services via Slimduet from June 15, 2015. In short, visitors coming to Singapore can easily buy a StarHub pre-paid plan through an app before their trip and just as easily activate it once they arrive.

And if tourists need any ideas on what to do in Singapore, the telco also has its very own free travel app called Goru, which it recently released for both Android and iOS. In fact, late last year, StarHub has already collaborated with the Singapore Tourism Board (STB) to have the app trialed by over 700 business visitors.

In a nutshell, Goru allows both tourists and locals to make hotel and restaurant bookings, as well as discover insightful guides, exciting events, and activities in Singapore. At the moment, Goru integrates with localized content providers such as Agoda, Chope, City Nomads, and YourSingapore.com. While non-StarHub customers can also use the app, Goru offers free local data access when paired with StarHub Mobile’s pre-paid SIM cards (including the plan StarHub is offering on Slimduet).

That said, StarHub also intends to bring Goru regional. The telco says it is partnering with Asian telco partners and renowned content providers in the regional tourism industry to bring more content to Goru, with the next Asian destinations likely to be Indonesia and South Korea.
