After a year of teasing the product, GoPro finally took the wraps off its first drone - the Karma. In addition, it also announced two new Hero5 action cameras, the Hero5 Black and Hero5 Session.

Unlike existing drone designs, the Karma Drone sports a compact form factor which can fold up and fit into a small backpack. Designed to work with the new Hero5 Black, Hero5 Session and Hero4 devices, the Karma has a 3-axis gimbal that holds the camera at the front for smooth video footage without capturing the rotors. The gimbal can be dismounted from the drone for handheld use.
The Karma drone also comes with a game-style controller which has an integrated 5-inch 720p touch display and two joysticks. There is also one button for the drone to take off, land and return to home. Coupled with the GoPro Passenger app, you can focus on flying the drone while your friend views the flight and control the camera.
Other specs include a maximum speed of 15m/s, a maximum distance of 1000m, a maximum flight altitude of 4,500m, a weight of 1.006kg, and a 5,100mAh battery which provides up to 20 minutes of flight time and recharges in an hour. It will be available for pruchase in Singapore on 23rd October for S$1,200 excluding the camera.

GoPro's latest flagship action camera is the Hero5 Black. Combining the very best of the Hero4 Black and Silver, the Hero5 Black has a 2-inch touch display with a 12-megapixel camera. It also can shoot up to 4K at 30fps and supports voice control for 7 languages. Unlike previous GoPro models (except the Hero4 Session), the Hero5 Black is waterproof up to 10m without an extra housing.

The Hero5 Black sports one button and a simplifed user interface for easier navigation and control. Other specs include electronic image stabilization, GPS, support for RAW + WDR photos, stereo audio recording with advanced noise reduction.
For the Hero5 Session, it has many specs of the Hero5 Black in a smaller form factor. However, you do not get a touch display, video support of 1080p at 90fps, a 10-megapixel camera, no GPS and no RAW photo support.

Both Hero5 models come with USB Type-C ports for charging. The Hero5 Black has a 1,220mAh battery while the Hero5 Session comes with a 1,000mAh battery. Both models are available for purchase in Singapore from 2nd October at S$590 and S$450 respectively.
