Google's upcoming messaging app can help you find answers to your questions
The instant messaging app war will set to intensify in the coming months as Google is said to be working on a new and more intelligent messaging app.
According to The Wall Street Journal, people familiar with the matter claim that Google's upcoming mobile messaging service is able to tap on artificial intelligence and chatbot technology to differentiate itself from the competition.
The Verge believes that Google's new messaging app will function similar to the typical Google search where answers and links are provided to the user. You may also be able to message the chatbot for information on the weather or details on a point of interest. Developers should be able to build their own chatbots to run on the messaging app.
Google currently has an instant messaging service, Hangouts which doesn't quite match up to the competition such as Facebook Messenger. Since Facebook is testing a text-based virtual assistant within Messenger, Google may not want to lose out in this space by developing a similar service.
