Google's next smartphones could be a lot more expensive
Google's Nexus smartphones have always been quite affordable with only last year's Huawei Nexus 6P getting close to the S$1k mark. However, according to an Android Police source, Google's upcoming Pixel phones could be a lot more expensive.
We already know that HTC will be manufacturing the Pixel and Pixel XL, and the latest rumor states that the smaller phone will start at US$649 (~S$885). If that's the case, expect the larger Pixel XL to be at least S$1000, if not more.
Google has not currently revealed any specs or features of the Pixel phones, although at Code Conference 2016, Google CEO Sundar Pichai did say Google will "thoughtfully add more features" to Android on future Google phones. He also said that the company will be more "opinionated" about the design, so we could be looking at a more high-end design and possibly some unique features that will only be found on Google phones.
For now we'll have to wait for Google's 4th October event, where it is widely rumored to be launching the Pixel phones.
