True to the adage that the only constant in life is change, Google has updated its logo, and the new branding reflects the new avenues its services are being accessed. In the past, Google was accessed with the desktop PC. These days, online users make use of Google services across many devices, platforms and applications.

You expect Google to help you whenever and wherever you need it, whether it’s on your mobile phone, TV, watch, the dashboard in your car, and yes, even a desktop!

As Google has observed, their typical user expects Google services to work, regardless of the device used. Therefore, in keeping up with the changing times, the Google branding has been streamlined for a cleaner look; the new fonts are sans serif. According to the company, the new logo will work better than the old one, across display screens of different sizes. Also, the updated branding also illustrates how Google services are working for you. For example, there’s the new colorful Google microphone icon to indicate that you can use your voice on the Google app or Chrome. The familiar letter ‘g’ in blue has been replaced with a four-color “G”.

Just last month, Google announced it would be part of a large holding company called Alphabet due to a corporate restructuring move. This surprise move was to ensure a cleaner corporate structure. With the new logo change, it appears the big idea of making Google more streamlined has also been applied to its branding.
