Google Unveiling New Devices and Software Enhancements on 29 October?

The LG Nexus 4 is among the new devices which Google is said to be unveiling on 29 October.

Google is said to be preparing to unveil several new devices and an upgraded Android version during its launch event on 29th October.

According to The Next Web, a source with knowledge of Google's plans claims that the company is releasing a 32GB Nexus 7 (Wi-Fi only, and 3G-enabled), a 10-inch tablet, LG Nexus 4 and Android 4.2.

The existence of a 32GB variant of the Nexus 7 has more or less been confirmed by numerous leaks over the past few weeks, with an actual unit landing in the hands of a Japanese customer and entries in numerous inventory systems (1) (2) (3). In addition, the source also said that a 3G version of the 32GB Nexus 7 will be announced.

It is also revealed that Google is indeed working with Samsung on a 10-inch tablet. Known internally as the "Codename Manta", the alleged device is powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean. The 10-inch tablet is said to be have a display resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels (about 300ppi).

This isn't the first time we have heard of such a tablet as reports first surfaced in February, when a trusted source of BGR claimed that Samsung might be launching a tablet with a high resolution display at Mobile World Congress 2012. Three months later, a German coder was exploring Google's source codes when he stumbled upon signs that indicated a collaboration with Samsung on a tablet.

A month after Google unveiled the Nexus 7, DigiTimes alleged that a 10-inch version is in the works and is slated for a launch by the end of the year. The information apparently came from touch panel manufacturers who mentioned that the 10-inch Nexus tablet will use 10-inch display panels from AU Optronics and Wintek.

Perhaps the worst kept secret of Google is the LG Nexus 4, which is also been confirmed by the source of The Next Web. The LG Nexus 4 will be equipped with a 4.7-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels, a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 quad-core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB RAM, 8 or 16GB internal storage, an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2,100mAh battery.

Last but not least, Google will release Android 4.2 Jelly Bean which will bring a number of new features such as "Content in the center", "Tablet Sharing" and enhanced panoramic camera settings.

"Content in the centre" will allow users to access Google Play Store content from a widget while "Tablet Sharing" enables multiple users on a single tablet device. The panoramic camera mode is said to be updated to support both horizontal and vertical movements by default.

Apple, Google and Microsoft are vying for their share of media attention in the last week of October as each company is holding its respective launch events one after the other.
