Google said to release two Nexus phones in October, no plans for new tablet

Google partnered with Motorola to make the Nexus 6 last year.

Following in the footsteps of Apple and Samsung, Google may be releasing two Nexus phones this year.

According to Android Police, the two Nexus phones are built by LG and Huawei respectively. The smaller Nexus phone is given the codename Bullhead and will be built by LG. It is said to come with a 5.2-inch display and a 2,700mAh battery. LG is considering to use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 chipset which is currently powering the G4.

The other Nexus phone, codenamed Angler, will be manufactured by Huawei. Similar to an earlier report, the Angler will sport a bigger 5.7-inch display and runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor with a bigger 3,500mAh battery.

Both Nexus phones are slated for launch in October with no mention of a new Nexus tablet. The current Nexus 9 tablet is built by HTC and is equipped with a NVIDIA Tegra K1 processor.

Aside from the new hardware, Google is expected to unveil Android M (also known by its internal codename Macadamia Nut Cookie) and a new update guarantee policy for Nexus devices
