The Google Nexus 7 will be available in Singapore starting 29th September, with the 16GB (Wi-Fi) version priced at S$399. You can purchase the Nexus 7 from stores islandwide such as Harvey Norman, Newstead and Challenger.

First unveiled at Google I/O 2012 in June, the Nexus 7 is the world's first 7-inch quad-core tablet. It is also the first device to run on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the latest iteration of the Android platform. Here's a quick recap of its specs:

  • Android 4.1 Jelly Bean
  • NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core 1.2GHz processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 16GB internal storage capacity (no memory card slot)
  • 1.2-megapixel front facing camera
  • 4,325mAh battery
  • 198.5 x 120 x 10.45mm
  • 340g

We reviewed the Google Nexus 7 a month ago and it garnered our Editor's Choice Award for its very attractive price point, superb overall performance, great design and excellent handling. It is of course not without its shortfalls, which include the lack of a memory card slot, a rear facing camera and 3G connectivity.

The case comes in six different colors. However, please check with respective vendors for exact offering. <br>Image source: Google

You can also purchase an optional sleeve cover at S$29. The polymer case protects the Nexus 7 from bumps and scratches while its non-slip matte texture provides additional grip for users.

If you are hoping for a wider choice of official and third party accessories (1) (2) or the 8GB version, you are out of luck as ASUS Singapore currently has no plans to bring them in. As for the rumored 3G variant, there is still no official word on it.
