Google Drive now works with desktop applications
Google Drive has just gotten a new feature, which allows you to launch files in Google Drive with your favorite desktop applications. This is pretty handy if you frequently use applications on your PC to work on files you have saved in Drive. Instead of downloading the files and launching the app, with the help of a new Chrome extension, you will be able to launch the applications from Google Drive in Chrome. You aren't limited to simple applications too, as the extension is capable of launching more specialized software such as accounting and tax programs or 3D animation and design tools. You do need to have the latest version of the Drive app and the Chrome extension for this to work, so you can work between apps and Drive more seamlessly once you got it all set up.
