IFA is always an exciting time to check out brand new gadgets with new technologies and features, with this year being just as thrilling as the last. Lenovo unveiled their selfie-powerhouse, the Lenovo VIBE S1, as well as their battery powerhouses, the Lenovo VIBE P1 and VIBE P1M.

Lenovo VIBE S1

Dual-front facing cameras for the best possible selfies.

The VIBE S1 has dual-front cameras – the primary photo taker sits at at 8-megapixels, while the secondary 2-megapixel camera enhances the shot with additional image information, such as the subject’s depth of field, mimicking human vision.

Making full use of the dual-camera feature, which adds depth-of-field to your shots.

Like any respectable selfie smartphone, the VIBE S1 comes with a slew of software features for improving your shot. The Blur function helps you refocus your image properly – with up to three focal planes – or it could help you add a bokeh effect to your photos, without the need for a compact camera. The Cut Out function helps to relocate people out of selfies and into any other image loaded in the VIBE S1. Low-light selfies are possible too – since the 8-megapixel front camera has a back-illuminated sensor. The Lenovo selfie-smartphone tops it off with a 13-megapixel rear camera, for the moments where you’re helping other people take their selfies.

Rear 13-megapixel camera for selfies too - probably not your own.

It doesn’t lack in the hardware department either. The 5.0-inch VIBE S1 can hold plenty of photos with 32GB internal storage, paired with external storage support of 128GB using a MicroSD card. It is powered by a 64-bit MediaTek octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, and runs on Android 5.0 (Lollipop) OS, with a Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixel) IPS LCD screen. It supports LTE networks, as well as dual nano-SIM.

The Lenovo VIBE S1 will be available by November 2015, in colors Pearl White and Midnight Blue, at stores that carry Lenovo smartphones. While the pricing may vary in Singapore, the Lenovo VIBE S1 is currenty pegged at US$299 (~S$423) at the time of writing.

Lenovo VIBE P1

The VIBE P1 is effectively a slim-looking powerbank with smartphone features. It comes with a generous 5,000mAh battery capacity which is embedded into the phone, and a physical OneKey power-saver switch – both features that are virtually unheard of when it comes to today’s flagship devices. It also comes with a 24W quick charge function, as well as USB OTG (on-the-go) support for charging other devices with the P1.

The VIBE P1 is powered by a mid-range 64-bit 1.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, fueled by 2GB RAM and running on Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS. It comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixel) IPS LCD screen, with great connectivity, including but not limited to NFC and Bluetooth 4.1, LTE networks, and up to Wi-Fi 802.11 ac.

Despite its mid-tier chip, the phone comes in an aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass 3 on the front. It also supports dual-nano SIM, and it comes with 32GB internal storage with MicroSD card support of up to external 128GB space. It also has a fingerprint scanner on the Home button for the sake of convenience and security.

The Lenovo VIBE P1 will be available come early October 2015, in two colors – Platinum and Graphite Grey, with third color Gold only available in China – at a recommended retail price of US$279 (~S$395). Like the VIBE S1, it can be found at places where Lenovo smartphones usually retail.

Lenovo VIBE P1M

The VIBE P1M is essentially the ‘light’ version of the P1, with the same OneKey power-saver switch, USB OTG charging support. It has an embedded 4,000mAh battery capacity – slightly less juice than the bigger brother above. The VIBE P1M however, has Quick Charge feature that allows the smartphone to go from empty to full in just 2 hours 40 minutes.

This phone is powered by a 1.0GHz 64-bit MediaTek™ MT6735P quad-core processor, with 2GB RAM. It uses Android 5.1 (Lollipop) OS, but it comes with a smaller internal storage space of 16GB and smaller external MicroSD storage support at 32GB. Wgile the 5.0-inch VIBE P1M may only have a HD (1,280 x 720 pixel) IPS LCD screen, it has other features that make it very practical. Its plastic chassis is coated in splash-proof nano coating, making it resistant to rain and spills. The phone supports Wi-Fi and LTE networks, and has dual-nano SIM functionality to go with it. It doesn’t come with NFC or fingerprint scanners, but it still has Bluetooth 4.1 built within.

The Lenovo VIBE P1M will be available come mid-September 2015, in two colors – Onyx Black and Pearl White. It will retail at US$159 (~S$225) in shops where Lenovo smartphones usually reside.
