Gmail Meter Monitors and Analyzes Your Email Habits

If you're one of those who'd love to find out more about your email habits, then Google might just have the right solution for you. Developed by Romain Vialard, a Google Apps Script Top Contributor, Gmail Meter is essentially an email analytic which tracks your usage habits, email volume, inbox management, and more. The data is laid out in graphs and pie charts, and they even give you a glimpse of your response time and word count for your email replies as well.

According to Saurabh Gupta, Google's Developer Programs Engineer, the apps script runs on the first day of each month, and updates you via an email in a similar fashion as the newly introduced Google Account Activity which tracks your Google Account usage habits. The only stipulation with Gmail Meter, of course, is that the script only works with Gmail exclusively. To install this analytical tool, open a spreadsheet in Google Docs. Go to "Tools", and select "Script Gallery". Next, search for "Gmail Meter" then click "Install". Like the folks over at The Huffington Post, however, we've waited more than ten minutes for the script to be installed with little luck.

For those of you who're lucky enough to get the apps script going, you should see a new menu option called "Gmail Meter" on the spreadsheet. To grab the desired stats, click on "Gmail Meter" and "Get A Report". And if the setup process sounds a tad too confusing, you may also checkout Google's tutorial which we've embedded for you below.
