Gigabyte's back in the game with new entries in its notebook line

While Gigabyte's P3 series of notebooks might all look the same, they all have a wide range of hardware under the hood.

Who would've thought that just a few weeks after we reviewed the Gigabyte P35X V3 we'd be hearing of even more models in the line? Gigabyte's one for surprises it seems, although with surprises like these, we certainly don't mind being on the receiving end.

At CES 2015, Gigabyte's unveiled two more models in its venerable P3 line of notebooks; the P37 and the P34. Like other entries in the series, the P37 and P34 will also have multiple variants.

The P37 will be one of Gigabyte's latest notebooks to carry the NVIDIA  GeForce GTX980M. It'll be a 17.3 inch notebook with massive potential storage capacity, supporting up to a pair of 512GB mSATA SSDs as well as two 2TB HDDs. Gigabyte claims that the P37X is the thinnest and lightest notebook in its class, although they've declined to give the machine's exact weight.

The P37 will come in three different configurations, the P37X, W and K. The P37X will be the flagship, boasting a top of the line NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M (8GB) as its graphics card. The other two will be using the 970M and the (as yet unannounced) 965M respectively for their graphical processing needs. Apart from that, Gigabyte's pretty tight lipped about letting the rest of the specifications out of the bag.

We do know that the P37X will sell from US$2099 - US$2299 (depending on configuration), the P37W will be going for US$1749 - US$1999 and the P37K will be going for US$1149 - US$1349. All of them will be on sale this February, though exact local pricing and availability is yet to be confirmed.

As for the P34, it's marketed similarly to the P37 line, although it only comes in two variants. Whereas the P37 is a 17.3 inch notebook, the P34 machines will all be of the 14 inch variety. There's the P34W V3 and the P34K V3. Like the P37 (and other P3 series notebooks), the difference in the variants are mainly due to the different graphics cards used. The P34W V3 will using a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M, while the P34K V3 will be using the weaker 965M.

Both machines too are set to release very soon. In fact, the P34W V3 should be coming out this month with a MSRP of US$1699 - US$1899. Again, the exact cost of the machine varies a bit due to the specifications chosen. As for the P34K V3, the release is a bit later than the P34W V3. It'll come next month, with a suggested retail price of US$1499 - US$1599.

Again, like the P37 machines, Gigabyte has yet to announce local availability and pricing for the two models.
